[It's a routine they indulge in whenever they're in the same place for more than a couple of days. This seems like a good enough time to pick it back up, test each other a little, and they claim one of the rooms in the Battle Dome, equipping it with mats and padded walls because while the simulation won't allow them to get really hurt by weapons, Clint isn't sure that it can make getting slammed to the ground any less painful.]

Ready, Tasha?

[He's grinning, as much a mask to hide his intentions as her blank expression. They take up position on the mats opposite each other, and there's no bowing, no politeness, just stillness.

He strikes first, a punch that she blocks, returns with a blow of her own, and then they're fighting in earnest. It's vicious, both of them making use of every move at their disposal, a brutal mix of martial arts and outright brawling, dirty tricks and all.

A throw sends Clint sprawling, hitting the bench where they'd left their stuff, and his journal falls open, starting to record the rest of the fight. To anyone not familiar with them, it does look like they're genuinely trying to kill each other. Neither of them really believe in pulling their punches and they're eerily silent while they fight, neither of them making any noise besides grunts of exertion.

They seemed evenly matched for the most part, Clint's size and strength well matched by Natasha's speed and agility and the training she'd undertaken since childhood. Eventually though, one of them comes out on top, and it's Clint who ends up floored and winded, laid out on his back, Natasha above him, pinning him down and her elbow pressed against his throat.

He groans softly, and then smiles.]

I yield.

[It's like he had just finished watching a wrestling show, only for the two competitors to start talking to him through the tv screen. These journals would definitely take some getting used to.]

Uh... hi! Sorry about that. I didn't realize it was a... private thing. It kinda looked like a show.

There's no reason to apologize, there was no harm done. It wasn't a show, or a private thing. Merely a sparring session.

Yeah, this is what we do for fun.

Wow. Training's a real chore for me, but if this is what you guys do for fun, then you must both be really awesome!

Training can be a chore at times, but sometimes it's a necessary one.

Might as well enjoy what you do.

What exactly do you guys do? If you don't mind me asking. [Although there isn't exactly a long list of jobs one would do training like that for.]

[For a moment, she was very tempted to come up with something wildly outrageous, like saying they were part of a circus troupe. And Clint was her monkey. Although that was hardly believable. Except maybe the Clint being her monkey part of it.

Also she's still not sure how much she should be saying here, how much would still be considered classified when there's people from other universes who are fully aware of SHIELD and the Avengers and their identities and... all the regulations she knows and typically follows are pretty much extinct at this point.

So instead, she just glances over at Clint, because he's been here longer and for once she hopes he can step in with a ready answer, even though that's usually her job.]

[Clint doesn't find the idea of a circus troupe all that outrageous to be honest, although yeah, maybe not for brutal combat training.

His perceptions on the matter are probably a little skewed though.

He catches the glance that Natasha gives him and gives a blithe, disarming smile]

Master assassins. Pays pretty well. Health care provision is abysmal.

[Because who on earth would ever believe a story like that?

He laughs softly, still smiling that open, honest look.]

Military. We specialise in hand to hand. Do a lot of training.

[Not entirely a lie. They have been known to train Agents on occasion.]

[They definitely seem to be something secret. Of course, Kurt has only a very limited knowledge of his world's SHIELD, with it's very non-Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury. He goes blank for a moment at the assassin part, almost believing it, but then he laughs along with Clint.]

Military, huh? Sweet! You guys definitely have that training thing down. My name's Kurt, by the way.

[Natasha smiles, humor in her gaze as she shakes her head at Clint's answer, because yes, he could often pull off telling the truth with a straight face before completely disregarding it with something else and having that be the more believable. A lie, but not. And that grin made you not even think twice about it.

She nudged his shoulder fondly, bemused, and turns her attention back to Kurt.]

I thank you for the compliment. I'm Natasha. This is Clint.

[He can see the moment when Kurt buys it, when he accepts the bare truth as a joke and the lie as the truth. And it was difficult to call someone on lying when they hadn't really.]

Thanks, Kurt. Pleased to meet you.

Natasha and Clint, huh? Nice to meet you guys! You must make quite the team.
