[#003] {Violence for fun and profit} Action/Video
[It's a routine they indulge in whenever they're in the same place for more than a couple of days. This seems like a good enough time to pick it back up, test each other a little, and they claim one of the rooms in the Battle Dome, equipping it with mats and padded walls because while the simulation won't allow them to get really hurt by weapons, Clint isn't sure that it can make getting slammed to the ground any less painful.]
Ready, Tasha?
[He's grinning, as much a mask to hide his intentions as her blank expression. They take up position on the mats opposite each other, and there's no bowing, no politeness, just stillness.
He strikes first, a punch that she blocks, returns with a blow of her own, and then they're fighting in earnest. It's vicious, both of them making use of every move at their disposal, a brutal mix of martial arts and outright brawling, dirty tricks and all.
A throw sends Clint sprawling, hitting the bench where they'd left their stuff, and his journal falls open, starting to record the rest of the fight. To anyone not familiar with them, it does look like they're genuinely trying to kill each other. Neither of them really believe in pulling their punches and they're eerily silent while they fight, neither of them making any noise besides grunts of exertion.
They seemed evenly matched for the most part, Clint's size and strength well matched by Natasha's speed and agility and the training she'd undertaken since childhood. Eventually though, one of them comes out on top, and it's Clint who ends up floored and winded, laid out on his back, Natasha above him, pinning him down and her elbow pressed against his throat.
He groans softly, and then smiles.]
I yield.
[OOC: Responses will be answered by Clint, or Natasha, or more likely, both.]

Re: [action]
[Apparently Natasha has high standards. Then again, with the way she fights? Amelia's not surprised by it.]
Guess that would happen if you spend enough time together.
[She shakes her head; Amelia hadn't actually been apologizing for watching, but how she just blurted out her appreciation for the fight. But since it's come up, she looks between the two of them again.] Are you both human? No supernatural powers or magic or anything like that?
[Because that's what makes it all the more amazing to Amelia: that they can fight like that, but be normal people. It stands out more to her for how long she's been in Luceti.]
[action]
I've been slacking off on hand to hand since I got here. Reactions are off.
[Something he knows he's going to get a lot of practice on from now on. He can't bring himself to mind.
Are they human? There's a question he wouldn't have anticipated a few months ago and now he's starting to wonder how long it'll take before it's normal.]
One hundred percent human. Me at least. Tasha's never been able to convince me that she's not part cat or something.
[The sordid details are nothing he's planning on getting into with anyone who doesn't already know. And it's not his story to tell in any case.
Re: [action]
[The words are said fondly as Natasha stretches out one of her shoulders and turns to regard the woman. She doesn't know her, hasn't encountered her before, but that question isn't one she can answer completely honestly, or in detail. Nor would she want to. So she merely smiles and shakes her head.]
Mortal here, as well. I've just spent a long time perfecting what I am capable of doing.
[Which is the truth. It just evaded the explanation of how long.]
Re: [action]
To be fair, it’s not one Amelia normally asks. Usually she doesn’t need to know, unless it’s in the context of a mission or something. Buf it these people are human, then that means what they’ve been doing can potentially be learned—which is the point she’s getting at.]
This is going to be sudden, considering I literally just walked up to you, but is either of you willing to teach what you know?
[Her eyes are more on Natasha when she asks, considering that for all intents and purposes, their body types at least look similar. She’s gone up against stronger guys often enough to know she can’t fight the same way they do and expect to win. But if the man is willing where the woman isn’t, she won’t complain. Slow reaction times or not, he’d done pretty damn well too.]
[action]
[That had been a fun day. They'd scared the scientists at the research facility half to death.
He raises an eyebrow at the question, sharing a glance with Natasha. He can see that this woman's gaze is more on his partner than him. Not surprising. Moves that he uses are not necessarily going to work for someone of her stature.]
I'd be willing. Not all of it's gonna work for you, but I'm sure I can give you a few tricks.
Re: [action]
[She grins, because that's an exaggeration, and also because she was remembering the same mission he was and that had definitely been a fun day. It wasn't often she had to put her aerialist training to quite so much use, but it had certainly come in handy that day.
She feels the woman's gaze fall on her when she makes her request, and if Natasha is surprised, she doesn't show it. She accepts the question with serious contemplation, eying the woman from head to toe for a moment.]
Have you had any training like this before?
Re: [action]
Sort of. I’ve been learning to box for a little under two months. [Although in truth it’s less boxing and more mixed martial arts; Bucky’s never been so strict on the rules to tell her that kicking isn’t actually allowed.] Also how to fight using a sword. I taught myself how to use a gun years ago, and I got into my share of brawls back home; I was a bounty hunter.
[action]
[He matches her grin with one of his own. He likes being up high. He sees better that way and it gives him more time to think if people're scrambling to try to reach him.
He looks her over himself as Natasha does. She's obviously been working out and the boxing explains some of that. the rest of her words explain the rest. If Natasha does decide to teach her, he doesn't mind offering himself up as punching bag.]
Been a while since I used a sword, and brawling's a good start. [She might already know how to fall, how to use someone's weight against them.]
Re: [action]
[It's said as a teasing aside to Clint before she turns her full attention back to Amelia, nodding when the woman explains what she's been learning, and what she already knows.]
Boxing is a good place to start. There's a lot of core elements there you can incorporate into other styles. I don't mind teaching you some of what I know, but sometimes it's difficult trying to train from two teachers, if the styles don't mesh. Perhaps one day I can watch one of your sessions, get an idea for how it flows?
Re: [action]
[Which is about as much as Amelia wants to say about it. If either of them had been there, then they'd understand.
And maybe it'd make it a bit clearer just why Amelia wants to learn.]
Sure. We get together for it a few times a week, so it shouldn't be hard to arrange something. [And if there's a hint of fondness when she brings up those sessions--well. She just agreed to be his girlfriend a few days prior. Amelia's allowed.]
Thanks. Both of you. [Even if she doesn't end up learning from Clint, he's still offered.]
Re: [action]
You're welcome. Just let me know one of these times when you're practicing and I'll slip in and observe a little. You might want to let your instructor know, however.
[action]
[His expression darkens a little at the mention of the last draft.]
I was there. [The risk of infection seemed too high with hand to hand though.
He smiles at the thanks and nods.]
No problem.
Re: [action]
[Which is why Amelia's determined to improve on all her skills, especially the most basic ones.]
Yeah, I'd planned to. He's a pretty agreeable guy, so I'm sure he'll be okay with it. If not, I'll let you know.
Re: [action]
Let me know. See what his take is and we can go from there. I can probably be found here quite often. My name's Natasha. This is Clint.
[action]
He offers a brief smile.]
Or just throw up a note on the journal.
Re: [action]
[Unless either of them has anything else to add, she'll let them be on their way then.]
