Ah, but was it really so far fetched? what had Coulson been doing when he died? Fending off the attack that Clint had planned. He might go a little pale at the thought.]

I would never hurt Coulson. I would kill to protect him.

Then we seem to share a similar objective.

[Spock shifts his stance to something that resembles 'relaxed' for a Vulcan...]

I will not pretend to understand your Mister Barton... as most humans do in fact provide me with a daily challenge. However, given our current situation of captivity in Luceti, I would be rather disinclined to spend my time here in hostilities with you.

Instead, I offer a chance to learn from one another. [Spock waits... curious as to Clint's answer.]

It would be pertinent to rectify that before I make my presence a common one. [Spock gives Barton a look... one that says "will you help me make good with the other people here? They kind of hate me right now..."]

[He hadn't been expecting to see Spock looking so awkward. It's not quite human awkward but the signs aren't too different.]

We're a rather unique group of people. We take care of our own.

[He hadn't asked in so many words, but he's fairly sure every one of them has seen more than any human really should.

He gives Spock a hard look for a moment before sighing.]

It's just dinner. Kind of like feeding time at the zoo.

[The formality is a little strange but considering Spock's demeanour, it's probably par for the course.]

Oh we're all mature adults... Well, Coulson is. Ben kind of is.
