He couldn't help but laugh at that, shaking his head. "Paging Tony Stark. Start running. It's more fun that way." He paused to grab a couple of knives, force of habit since he wasn't intending to use them today. He didn't like being outside without being armed.

She's already armed - again, just in case, because the two of them are far too much alike. But she flashes a grin over her shoulder. "How else do you think we found him so fast after he went off the grid in Malibu? Sometimes I miss the internet."

He's fairly sure that both of them go armed even in places where they shouldn't be able to carry weapons. Hell, he has a set of ceramic knives just for air travel. He grins back at her and there's something comfortable about this, something good. "You're saying he was tweeting his location? ...do you think he livetweeted the fight in New York?"

That had her laughing, the sound warm and genuine as she led the way down, looking thoroughly amused. "Not him. The people that caught sight of him. Do you have any idea how many tweets fly up when he buzzes over somewhere? We don't need a tracking system, we just wait for those."

"I try not to pay attention. You know what happens if I get spotted using Twitter, Tasha? Bird jokes. And I'd just got done breaking the new recruits of the habit too." He did know that Stark had been making rather a spectacle of himself in New York. Oh god, the man was banned from any kind of stealth mission ever. Except maybe as bait.

"Who do you think starts half the bird jokes recirculating?" she teases him, making sure she was a step and a half out of his immediate reach, just in case. "The new recruits are always the most amused by them."

He shoots her a glare, eyes narrowing. "People might almost think that a few of them were too creative to be coming from kids in training. Might have come from some inside source even..." He grins as he says it though. "Just you wait."

"Well, SHIELD does have its fair share of inside sources," she hummed out, her expression innocent a moment before she started laughing again. "I'm always waiting, bird-boy."

They're outside now and she glances around, noting how low the sun's getting. They have maybe an hour and a half left before it set. She frowns, thinking.

"He took his own bottle. I don't think we'll find him around other people. If he cared about that, he wouldn't have left the house, or he would have headed for the bar for drinking. I think he was looking for privacy."

"Ha ha, laugh it up, Tasha. Just you wait and someone will start spreading those rumours about how you drag your prey back to a web in the vents." He shook his head, trying to look serious, but couldn't manage to keep an entirely straight face.

It's getting dark. Bigger problem here than it would be in the city, but he's hoping that even Tony will be smart enough to not wander around drunk after dark and risk breaking his neck.

"He can't have gone too far but there's a lot of woodland to cover if he has decided to go that way."

That has her shooting him a knowing smirk. "Start? Those never stopped. I'm rather fond of them, personally." It's hardly her fault the new recruits are sometimes far too gullible.

"Tony's not really the outdoors sort," she counters shaking her head. "I don't think he'd have headed for the forest. We might have better luck if we start with some of the quieter or emptier buildings around the village first. Work our way out from here?"

He gives her a slightly suspicious look at that. "Sometimes I'm not entirely sure myself whether that isn't true," he said, giving her a wink. "We'll have to get some of that cobweb spray they sell, put it in conspicuous places around the base." Freak out a few interns.

"Good point." It was difficult to imagine Tony in places that weren't cities honestly, or at least the rich outskirts of said cities. "I think that works. Just finding him right? Not retrieving?"

"I do enjoy keeping you guessing," she shoots back, still smirking at the conversation. At his question about Tony, she shakes her head.

"Only finding. Not intercepting. Not kicking his ass, sadly. Pepper just wants us to find him and she'll handle it from there."

"If they were in the vents, I'd know about it. Apparently I have nests in there and can survive for days without leaving." He nudged her shoulder lightly, grinning at the thought.

Her explanation makes him wince though. "I think leaving him to Pepper after this is probably a fate worse than us. And here I never thought I'd be saying that."

"Don't try to bluff me, Barton, I know all about your stashes," she teases him, nudging him back. "You're in for it the day Sitwell figures out who keeps stealing his candy bars."

Natasha gives a quiet snort at that. "You're probably right. And anyone would say that after being 'left' to Pepper to deal with."

He shrugs, giving an innocent look. "Well, if he didn't want me to take them, he shouldn't leave them in such obvious places. I mean, his desk drawer? Seriously? We're supposed to be spies." Surely the first rule of being a spy was to keep your candy hidden well.

"Yup. She's one hell of a woman. I would not want to cross her." She reminded him of Hill in some ways. There was a core of steel beneath her designer suits.

"Spies with a sweet tooth, apparently," she snickers, not buying his innocent look for a moment. She stepped out into the street and motioned to the row of houses, some dark, some lit. "Come on, Barton. We'd best keep the woman happy then, because I don't want to be the one to tell her we can't find Stark. You take the left, I'll take the right?"

"Hey, I deserve some treats now and then. A little candy can't hurt. Unless you think I'm getting fat or something." He followed after her, gaze sharping as he took in the sights. "Oh hell no. I'm not disappointing Pepper. Left is good."

"I'll let you know next time I have to give you a boost," she calls back with a smirk, then heads off to the other side of the street to start her search.

"Ouch. You are a cruel woman, Tasha. I'm hurt." He laughs softly and gives her a jaunty wave before heading off in the opposite direction, well aware of his surroundings despite his blase attitude.
